Information, not advice
Everything published on this website is general information about marketing. It is written carefully and in good faith, and it is not advice tailored to your business, your market or your finances. Acting on a general article without looking at your own numbers first is a decision you make on your own judgement.
The calculators
The tools on this site are models, not forecasts. They apply arithmetic to figures you enter and show the result. They know nothing about your competitors, your margins, the state of your website or the market you sell into.
A calculator output is not a projection of what your business would earn, and no financial decision should rest on one. The assumptions behind each tool are written on the tool page rather than hidden, so you can judge them yourself.
Client results
Figures published on this site came out of real advertising and analytics accounts and are reported as recorded in those accounts, in the currency the account was billed in. They are anonymised at client request.
They describe what happened in those accounts. They do not predict what would happen in yours. Market, budget, margin, starting position, competition and how quickly you answer an enquiry all move the outcome, and several of those are outside our control entirely. Anyone showing you a result and implying you would get the same one is selling rather than reporting.
No guarantee of rankings, leads or revenue
We do not control Google, Bing, Meta or any other platform. We do not promise a specific ranking position, or an absolute number of leads or amount of revenue, beyond what our published guarantees state.
The only outcomes we commit to are these three, each on its stated conditions:
- Search: A 50% increase in 90 days, or you get a refund plus $1,000. See SEO pricing and the refund policy.
- Paid ads: 50 qualified leads in a month, or the next month is free. See ads pricing.
- Email: Open rates above 50% and click-through between 15% and 30%, guaranteed in writing. See email pricing.
Things the advertising platforms decide, and we do not
Google, Microsoft and Meta set their own rules and change them without notice. They can reject an advert, restrict a category, limit an audience, or suspend an account, and they are not obliged to explain why or to restore it.
We work to the published policies, we get creative reviewed before spend where a category calls for it, and we say plainly when a category has no compliant paid route at all. What we cannot do is guarantee a platform decision, and any agency telling you otherwise is describing something outside their control. Where an account is restricted, the work moves to the channels that are not rented, which is the reasoning set out on the regulated industries page.
What the advertising costs, and whose money it is
Advertising spend is billed by the platform directly to you, on your own account, on your own payment method. We do not take ownership of a client advertising account and we do not bill media through us. You keep the account and its history if the engagement ends.
That also means the platform, not us, decides what a click or an impression costs on any given day. Auction prices move with competition and seasonality.
What you are responsible for
You are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of the claims you ask us to publish about your own products and services, and for holding whatever licences, certifications or registrations your category requires. This matters most in regulated categories: health, supplements, finance, treatment, gambling and cannabis all place the obligation on the advertiser.
We will flag a claim we think creates risk, and we will decline to run one we believe is unlawful. Neither of those makes us the party responsible for it.
Where results depend on both sides
Marketing work is not delivered to you in a sealed box. Outcomes depend on access being granted, recommended changes being made or us being given the ability to make them, and enquiries being answered when they arrive. Where those do not happen, the result changes, and the conditions attached to the performance guarantee say so in writing before anybody pays anything.
This page is not legal advice either
These pages are written to describe honestly how we operate and what we are and are not responsible for. They are not drafted by a lawyer, they are not a substitute for a signed agreement, and the engagement contract is the document that governs the relationship. If you are relying on anything here for a legal position, have your own solicitor look at it.
Third party sites
Where we link out to another website, we do so because the content was useful when we checked it. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for what they publish or how they handle your data.
Currency of information
Search engines and advertising platforms change constantly. An article accurate on the day it was published may be out of date later. Where a page carries a last-updated date, that is the date the content was last reviewed.
