Regulated industries

The industries where the plan starts with the policy.

Account disabled, processor gone, three agencies who said they would look into it and never came back. The problem is usually not your business. It is that almost nobody has read the policy.

Platform policies summarised here were last read in September 2026. They change, so the current text is checked again for your products and markets before any budget is committed.

All industries
  • Organic search Open No approval to lose. This is where the plan starts in every one of these categories.
  • Email Open, with the right provider A list on a provider that accepts your category in writing, with the sending domain authenticated.
  • Paid ads Depends on the category Certification, jurisdiction and copy decide it. Some categories qualify, some do not, and the check comes before the budget.

The categories

Seven categories, and what each one runs into.

CBD dropper bottles and hemp leaves arranged on a pale surface CBD marketing built for a channel mix that stays open CBD and hemp marketing on channels that survive a policy review: organic search, an email provider that accepts you in writing, paid media where policy allows. How this one works Market charts on trading screens in a dark room Crypto marketing that survives a policy review Crypto marketing built around the certification that decides whether you can advertise, and the explanation content that keeps ranking after the launch. How this one works Cannabis flower in labelled glass jars on a retail counter Dispensary marketing for a market with no paid search Dispensary marketing where Google and Meta will not take your money: the map pack, a menu search engines can read, location pages, and your own email list. How this one works Two people reviewing printed charts across a desk Financial services marketing that clears verification Financial services marketing built around advertiser verification, the claims you cannot make, named authors, and campaigns aimed at the triggering event. How this one works Close view of hands playing a game on a phone iGaming marketing that starts with the licence, not the campaign iGaming marketing built on the licences you hold: certification per jurisdiction, campaigns that follow the licence map, and organic ground affiliates ignore. How this one works Supplement bottles and capsules arranged on a plain background Supplement marketing that survives its own claims Supplement marketing built around the claim rules that decide whether ads run, and the reorder timing most brands never build for a product that runs out. How this one works A single chair in a quiet room with daylight through tall windows Treatment centre marketing built around certification Treatment centre marketing that starts with LegitScript certification, keeps health data out of the tracking, and writes for the family member who is searching. How this one works

What actually stops you

Six constraints, and what each means in practice.

None of these are reasons to give up on the category. They are why a plan built for a normal ecommerce brand fails here, usually expensively.

01

Certification, not permission

Gambling, crypto and addiction treatment need a certification the business holds. Google reviews the company, not the ad, before a campaign can run.

02

Jurisdiction is a legal question

Elsewhere geography is a targeting choice. Here it decides whether a campaign is lawful, so the account has to mirror the licences you hold.

03

Some categories have no paid route

Marijuana is prohibited on Google and Meta whatever your state licence says. Anyone offering to run it is proposing to spend your money finding out.

04

Copy is a compliance surface

In supplements and CBD the rejection is rarely the product. It is one sentence that turned a food into a drug. Copy gets reviewed before the spend.

05

Tracking can be the violation

A standard pixel on a treatment enquiry page can send protected health information to a third party. That is a compliance event, and a first-week fix.

06

Owned channels outrank rented ones

When an account can be disabled without warning, search and a list on a provider that accepts you in writing are the only part of the plan that compounds.

The order the work runs in.

Doing it the other way round is how accounts get disabled.

  1. 1

    See the licence

The licence or registration is seen before anything is planned, and the answer is no where it cannot be.

  2. 2

    Read the current policy

Checked against your specific products and markets, not against what the policy said last quarter.

  3. 3

Build the channels that cannot be switched off

Search and email first, so the business is not one enforcement away from no revenue.

  4. 4

Then paid, where it is permitted

Assets reviewed against current policy before they run, and accounts structured so one rejection cannot take everything down.

I have been in business long enough to know that every agency has a presentation about why they are different. That part doesn't interest me. What mattered to us was whether they understood our market and whether they would actually do the work after the meeting was over. So far, they've been practical, responsive and consistent. We discuss priorities, the team works on them, and we review what was done. I prefer that kind of relationship.

I am probably not the easiest person to build a landing page for because I change my mind constantly. First I wanted it minimal. Then more colour. Then less colour. Then I hated the headline. Then I wanted the old headline back. 😂 What I liked was that the team didn't get irritated or disappear every time I asked for another round of changes. We kept working through it until it finally felt like us.

My son said we needed SEO. I said fine, but I didn't want to hear about it every week. Mavix sorted the important stuff and kept it simple.

Questions

What people ask before they will talk to us.

Which industries do you actually take?

Licensed and lawful businesses in categories the ad platforms restrict: CBD and hemp, licensed cannabis retail, licensed gambling operators, registered crypto businesses, supplements, and licensed treatment providers. The licence or registration gets seen before anything is planned, and the answer is no where it cannot be.

Can you get our banned ad account back?

Sometimes, and an appeal is worth running properly rather than through a form. The more useful work is making sure the business is no longer one enforcement away from having no revenue, which is why these plans lead with organic and owned channels rather than treating them as extras.

How do you know the policies? They change constantly.

They do, which is why nothing here is treated as settled. The current policy text gets checked for your specific products and markets before budget is committed, rather than relying on what it said last quarter. Any page on this site describing a policy, including this one, is a starting point for that check and not a substitute for it.

Will you promise our ads will not be rejected?

No. Nobody controls a platform review, and an agency promising otherwise is telling you something useful about how it operates. What does happen: every asset is reviewed against current policy before it runs, accounts are structured so one rejection cannot take the whole operation down, and the channels that do not depend on approval get built first.

Do you work with anything you will not name here?

More work gets turned down in these categories than taken. Unlicensed operators, anything targeting a market where the product is not lawful, and anything where the marketing would only work by making a claim the business cannot support. Carrying a financial guarantee means an account that cannot be moved honestly costs money rather than earning it.
