Med spa Google Ads
Half your ads say "Eligible (limited)" and nobody at the last agency could tell you why. The Botox campaign barely serves, the remarketing list was disapproved, and the leads that do arrive want a discount you ran once in March.

Certified across the platforms we buy on. 150+ businesses, 7 years.
Med spa searches name the treatment. That creates a problem no other local business has, because several of those names are prescription drugs.
The first two lines contain names on Google’s list of monitored prescription drugs. The rest do not name a drug. That split decides how the account is built.
Restricted drug terms. Google’s restricted drug terms policy says that for campaigns targeting the United States you may use prescription drug terms in ads and landing pages. It then says you must be certified in order to keyword-target those terms. The certifications it describes are for business types such as online pharmacies, telemedicine providers and pharmaceutical manufacturers. So a clinic can say “Botox” on its page and in its ad, and should expect limits on bidding on the word itself.
Health in personalized advertising. Google’s health policy for personalized ads lists invasive medical procedures, including cosmetic surgery and injections. Advertisers in the category cannot use Customer Match, their own data segments, audience expansion or lookalike segments. That rules out the remarketing list and the client email upload. In-market, affinity, demographic and location targeting stay available.
Treatments Google will not carry. The healthcare and medicines policy does not allow promotion of speculative or experimental medical treatments, or of cell therapies outside a narrow FDA-approved exception. It also bans products containing hCG for weight loss. If your menu includes anything sold as stem cell or regenerative therapy, keep it out of the ads and off the landing pages.
The med spas page describes what happens on Meta. These three are the Google side.
Keywords follow the treatment category. “Wrinkle relaxer injections”, “anti wrinkle injections near me” and “lip filler” carry no drug name. The FDA regulates dermal fillers as medical device implants, which is a different class from a prescription drug. Laser, peel and microneedling terms are plain.
Each treatment has its own campaign and page. The landing page names the product, the injector and a price range. The landing page guide covers the layout. Our own caution is to keep drug-named treatments and other treatments on separate pages, so a limit on one does not spread.
Negatives are loaded before launch. “Botox training”, “injector course”, “esthetician jobs”, “at home microneedling”, “filler kit” and the treatments you do not offer.
Ad text avoids outcome promises. We write about the consultation, the practitioner and the price. Claims about how a client will look are left out.
LocaliQ and WordStream’s 2026 benchmarks cover more than 13,000 campaigns from April 2025 to March 2026. They have no med spa category. The two nearest are:
The all-industry averages are $5.42 a click and $66.69 a lead. A med spa sits somewhere between a salon and a medical practice, so read these as context. They are not a forecast.
Our fee is not listed here. You get a quote after a free review, and the ads pricing page explains the model. The Google Ads ROI calculator lets you test a treatment using your own repeat-visit numbers.
| Treatment | Example search | On Google’s drug list | How we approach the keyword |
|---|---|---|---|
| Botox, Dysport, Xeomin | Botox near me | Yes | Category terms, drug name on the page |
| Semaglutide, tirzepatide | semaglutide clinic near me | Yes | Category terms, prescriber named on the page |
| Dermal fillers | lip filler near me | Not a drug, an FDA-regulated device | Treatment terms |
| Laser hair removal | laser hair removal near me | No | Treatment terms |
| Microneedling, peels | microneedling near me | No | Treatment terms |
| Stem cell or regenerative | stem cell facial | Speculative treatment policy | Not advertised |
Google enforces these policies ad by ad. An approval today is not a promise about next month, so the account is checked weekly.
Weeks one and two. You tell us which treatments bring clients back and what a returning client is worth. We audit the current account against the three policies using our Google Ads audit checklist. Advertiser-built audiences are removed.
Weeks three to six. One campaign per treatment goes live. Disapprovals are read and fixed within a day. The search terms report is cut back twice a week.
Weeks seven to twelve. Budget moves to the treatments that produce booked consultations at a cost that works on the second visit.
For each treatment you see spend, enquiries, consultations booked, treatments sold and cost per booked consultation. Where the booking system allows, repeat visits are added.
Policy standing is on the report too: ads limited, ads disapproved, and what was done.
Tracking is kept plain. HHS guidance says a booking made on a clinic site with third-party tracking can make the vendor a business associate, in which case an agreement is required. Whether your clinic is covered by HIPAA depends on how you bill. We send a “booking made” signal without the treatment name.
If your whole menu is injectables and the pages are thin, build the pages first. That is med spa SEO.
If nobody answers the phone or the booking link during treatments, fix that before buying clicks.
If the offer is a deep discount and clients do not return, ads will make the loss bigger.
If the account has been suspended, deal with the suspension through Google’s appeal process first. When you are ready, Google Ads management starts with the policy audit.
Proof
Not a med spa. A pediatric therapy practice, the nearest published account: a local clinic found by people searching for a treatment near them.
