San Antonio, TX

SEO and Google Ads for San Antonio businesses, measured in calls and orders

Your reports show clicks and the phone is no busier. In a city this size the customers are inside the city limits, so the question is which searches reach you and which reach the firm down the road.

San Antonio keeps its customers inside the city limits

San Antonio had 1,548,422 residents on July 1, 2025. That makes it the seventh largest city in the country, and it added 14,359 people in a year (Census Bureau). The San Antonio-New Braunfels metro had 2,813,140 (Census Bureau).

Put those together and the city holds about 55 percent of its metro. That share is our arithmetic. In Dallas the figure is about 16 percent. A San Antonio address reaches more than half the market before you write a single suburb page.

The Census Bureau counted 52,088 employer establishments in the metro in 2023, employing 980,355 people (County Business Patterns). Just over half, 26,936, had fewer than five employees.

The area names San Antonio searchers add

Because the city is so large, people narrow a search by area more than by suburb. Stone Oak, Alamo Heights, Southtown, the Pearl, Alamo Ranch and the Medical Center are all typed as places. So are the roads: inside Loop 410, outside Loop 1604. Helotes and Leon Valley are separate small cities on the northwest side.

Populations come from the Census Bureau’s city and town estimates. The notes are ours. Google names distance from the searcher as one of three local ranking factors, beside relevance and prominence (Google Business Profile Help). An address on the north side will struggle to show on the south side however good the site is. Our guide to local SEO in Texas explains what to do about that.

Government, health and trade carry the local economy

The metro had 1,192,200 nonfarm jobs in July 2026 (Bureau of Labor Statistics). Trade, transportation and utilities employed 216,800. Government employed 183,100, which is about 15 percent of all jobs on our arithmetic. Education and health services employed 180,000, and leisure and hospitality 152,400.

For marketing, that means three things. Clinics and practices are a large local employer, and our healthcare marketing page covers the rules they advertise under. Households with steady public pay still need a trade when the air conditioning fails, which is where HVAC marketing fits. And visitors search differently from residents, so a restaurant or attraction needs both sets of searches.

What makes San Antonio cheaper to compete in

There is no published click price for San Antonio. The national 2026 benchmark is $5.42 a click and $66.69 a lead across all industries (LocaliQ). Check your own trade in Keyword Planner with the location set to Bexar County.

Two sourced facts suggest bids run lower here than in Dallas or Austin. The metro has about 19 employer establishments per 1,000 residents, on our arithmetic from the Census figures. Austin has about 27. Fewer firms are bidding for each household. The average weekly wage was $1,372 in early 2026 against $1,654 nationally, on the same BLS summary. Lower job values leave less room to bid.

The catch is order value. If a sale is small, wasted clicks hurt sooner, and tracking has to be right before the budget goes up.

The one San Antonio account we have written about

We have published a write-up of one San Antonio store’s Google Ads account. The store sold a low-ticket food product online with local pickup. Its reports counted add-to-carts, newsletter signups and purchases as the same thing, so the numbers never matched the orders.

After purchases became the only action that steered bidding, the account recorded 787.59 purchases at $4.77 each. It recorded 6.45 in conversion value for every 1 spent. The post states the limits. The period behind those totals is not recorded. Conversion value is revenue recorded by the tag, and it is not profit. The client’s name is withheld at their request.

That is one account. It is not a promise about yours.

Texas licence and privacy rules to check first

If you run a trade, the state decides who may advertise the work. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation licenses air conditioning and heating contractors, and the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners licenses plumbers. Put the licence number on the site and the profile, where a customer checking you can find it.

The Texas Data Privacy and Security Act has applied since July 1, 2024. Small businesses under the federal definition are generally exempt, apart from sales of sensitive data (Texas Attorney General). A clinic collecting health details through a web form should read that page before adding ad tracking.

How the work runs when we are not in San Antonio

Mavix has one US office, in Los Angeles. We have no office and no staff in San Antonio, and the store above is the only San Antonio account we describe anywhere. Everything is done remotely.

You send the site and we send back a written review. It covers which searches bring people in, which pages are missing, and whether calls and forms are being counted. From there, SEO and Google Ads are run in accounts you own. The locations page lists the other cities we serve this way, including Austin up the road.

Checks worth making on any San Antonio agency

  • Ask what they count as a lead. If a newsletter signup and a sale are the same line, the report will flatter the account.
  • Ask for the search terms report from an account they run, sorted by cost.
  • Ask whether your ad account is billed to your card and stays yours.
  • Ask which side of town their examples come from, and whether that matches yours.

The page on how ads pricing is set lists what moves a quote. The Google Ads ROI calculator lets you test your own numbers first.

Questions

Questions owners ask about this

01 Does Mavix have an office in San Antonio?
No. Our only US office is in Los Angeles, and we have no staff in San Antonio. Work is done remotely through video calls and access to your own accounts.
02 Has Mavix worked with a San Antonio business?
We have published one write-up of a San Antonio store Google Ads account. The client name is withheld at their request, and the post says what the figures do and do not prove. We name no other San Antonio clients.
03 How many businesses are in the San Antonio market?
The Census Bureau counted 52,088 employer establishments in the San Antonio-New Braunfels metro in 2023. Of those, 26,936 had fewer than five employees.
04 Is San Antonio cheaper to advertise in than Dallas or Austin?
No public source prices clicks by city. What the data shows is fewer employers per resident and lower average wages than Dallas or Austin. In our reading both keep bids lower, and your own Keyword Planner will confirm it.
05 Do I need a page for New Braunfels or Boerne?
Only if you work there and can show it. New Braunfels has 122,492 residents and its own search results. A page with real jobs, photos and a local phone answer earns its place. A copied page does not.
06 What does Mavix charge for SEO in San Antonio?
There is no price list. You get a figure in writing after the free review, with the scope beside it, so you can see what the number buys.
