Med spa marketing statistics for 2026, each with its source

30 US med spa marketing statistics for 2026: med spa counts, patient visits and spend, treatment volumes, review habits and Google Ads costs, all sourced.

The US had 10,488 medical spas in 2023, and 73 percent of their patients were repeat patients (American Med Spa Association). A search click in the Beauty and Personal Care category cost $4.62 in the 2026 benchmarks (LocaliQ).

Those three numbers frame the rest of this page. There are 30 statistics below, grouped by the question each one answers. Every figure was opened at its source and carries its year. Where a source is not specific to med spas, the text says so. This page gives statistics only. It makes no claim about any treatment.

The short version

  • The American Med Spa Association’s 2024 report counts 10,488 US medical spas in 2023, up from 8,899 in 2022, and 81 percent are single-location businesses.
  • The average medical spa receives 245 patient visits a month, and patients spend an average of $527 a visit, according to the same 2024 report.
  • An average of 73 percent of medical spa patients are repeat patients, up from 65 percent in the association’s 2022 report.
  • The American Society of Plastic Surgeons counted 9,883,711 neuromodulator injection procedures in the US in 2024, a 4 percent rise on 2023.
  • BrightLocal’s 2026 survey of 1,002 US adults found that 68 percent require a rating of at least four stars before they use a local business.
  • Beauty and Personal Care search ads cost $4.62 a click and $39.25 a lead in LocaliQ’s 2026 benchmarks, and the report has no med spa category.

How big is the US med spa industry?

It had 10,488 locations in 2023, and about four in five were single-location businesses. The industry rows come from the American Med Spa Association, known as AmSpa.

AmSpa surveyed medical spas online from September 2023 to March 2024 with its research partner (AmSpa). The page we opened does not give the number of respondents.

The revenue row needs a note. The report recap says average revenue rose from $1,307,587 to $1,398,833. A later AmSpa news post labels those two figures as 2023 and 2024 (AmSpa). We label the row with the report edition and leave the year open.

The three job rows are not a med spa count. The Bureau of Labor Statistics has no med spa occupation. Skincare specialists work across salons, spas and medical offices, and 6 percent of them work in physicians’ offices.

Who are med spa patients, and how often do they come back?

Close to nine in ten are women, and nearly three in four have been before. These rows are from the same AmSpa 2024 report.

How many aesthetic treatments are performed in the US?

About 28.5 million minimally invasive procedures in 2024, by one national count. The count is from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, known as ASPS.

Two limits apply. The ASPS report is a plastic surgery society’s count. It does not say how many of these treatments took place in a med spa. And the ASPS page for 2025 gives shares for these treatments and no procedure counts, so the counts above are for 2024.

How do patients find and choose a local business?

They read reviews, and they read recent ones. We could not open a current survey of how people choose a med spa. These figures are for local businesses in general.

They come from BrightLocal’s Local Consumer Review Survey 2026, a panel of 1,002 US adults (BrightLocal). The survey does not break results out by industry, so none of these rows is specific to med spas.

The local SEO checklist covers the profile and review basics behind these rows.

What do Google Ads cost for med spas?

There is no med spa row in the benchmarks we could open. The closest category in LocaliQ’s 2026 report is Beauty and Personal Care, at $4.62 a click and $39.25 a lead.

A med spa could also be compared with the Physicians and Surgeons category. That row is $4.76 a click, a 12.43 percent conversion rate and $40.04 a lead. The two categories sit close together, which makes either a fair planning figure.

LocaliQ says the report is built on thousands of its customers’ campaigns on Google Ads and Microsoft Ads. The page we opened does not state the campaign dates. Our post on what Google Ads cost in 2026 records the method note from the WordStream edition.

A lead is whatever the account records as a conversion, such as a call or a booking form. It is not a paying patient. The cost per lead benchmarks post explains that difference.

What does this mean for your marketing?

This section is our reading of the numbers above. It is opinion, and the sources do not say it.

Repeat visits carry the business. If 73 percent of patients have been before, a first visit can lead to more than one $527 visit. We would work out what a new patient is worth over a year before judging a $39.25 lead. The lead generation calculator does that sum.

New locations keep arriving. AmSpa says 18 percent of medical spas opened in 2023 alone. A new competitor starts with no reviews. Nearly half of the consumers in the BrightLocal survey skip a business with fewer than 20, so an established review record is an asset worth keeping current.

The 7 percent marketing figure is an average across AmSpa’s respondents. It is a reference point for a budget conversation. It is not a rule.

What these figures do not tell you

  • None of them is a result you should expect. They describe a trade survey, a national procedure count, a consumer panel or a set of ad accounts.
  • The AmSpa figures are from its 2024 report. AmSpa sells the full report, and we used only the free recap pages.
  • The ASPS figures count procedures. They say nothing about safety, suitability or outcomes, and neither does this page.
  • The review and ad figures are not specific to med spas. The text beside each table says which category they describe.

Last checked against the sources on 2026-10-02.

The bottom line

A statistic is worth quoting when you can say who counted it, when, and what one unit is. For med spas the checkable numbers are a trade association survey, a surgeons’ procedure count, government job data, one consumer survey and one ad benchmark. Use them to size the market and to sanity-check a quote. Your own booking and rebooking records are the numbers to plan on.

Questions people ask about this

How many med spas are there in the US?

The American Med Spa Association’s 2024 report counts 10,488 medical spas in 2023, up from 8,899 in 2022. A later AmSpa press page describes the industry as having more than 11,000 med spas. We quote the report figure because it comes with a year.

How much revenue does an average med spa make?

The AmSpa 2024 report puts average annual revenue per medical spa at $1,398,833, up from $1,307,587 in its previous figure. It is an average across owners who answered a trade survey. It is not a forecast for a single location, and the recap does not give a median.

How much does the average med spa patient spend per visit?

Patients spend an average of $527 during a medical spa visit, according to the AmSpa 2024 report. The same report says an average medical spa receives 245 patient visits a month, and that 73 percent of patients are repeat patients.

How much should a med spa spend on marketing?

AmSpa says that, in its 2024 report, a medical spa invests about 7 percent of revenue in marketing on average. Its article says budgets range from 2 to 15 percent depending on size, competition and growth plans. That is a description of what respondents do.

What do Google Ads cost for a med spa?

No benchmark we could open has a med spa category. In LocaliQ’s 2026 report, Beauty and Personal Care is $4.62 a click and $39.25 a lead. Physicians and Surgeons is $4.76 a click and $40.04 a lead. A single clinic can pay more or less.

What are the most common minimally invasive treatments in the US?

By the ASPS count for 2024, neuromodulator injections came first with 9,883,711 procedures. Hyaluronic acid fillers followed with 5,331,426, then skin resurfacing with 3,703,305. For 2025, ASPS says the first two made up 80 percent of minimally invasive treatments.

Who owns med spas in the US?

In the AmSpa 2024 report, 81 percent of medical spas are single-location businesses. Among single-owner practices, 67 percent are owned by someone who is not a physician or surgeon. The same recap says 3 percent of medical spas are owned by private equity firms.
